What you need to know

NELSON MANDELA YOUTH & HERITAGE CENTRE

The centre has six double or family rooms with double beds, DSTV, air conditioners and a shower. Twelve dormitory style rooms that sleep four people each room. Each room has two double bunk beds

COSTS OF HIRING VARIOUS ROOMS
Rates for rooms are as follows:

  • Double rooms are charged at R275.00 for the rooms.
  • Dorm rooms are charged at R137.50 per person in the room.

CATERING OPTIONS

  • Self catering
  • Outsourced catering services on request. The museum has a data base of caters that come when their services are required.

BOOKINGS

Booking the conference centre:

A flat rate of R1 750. This includes the use of the projector, flip charts and PA System. Excluded are notebooks, photocopies and pens.
For a half day (4 hours), it costs R1 000
Hourly rate, R220 per hour.

To book the sports hall:
Seats 300 people, R3 000 per day
For a half day, R1 500 per day
Hourly rate – R375

To hire the boardroom:
Seats 15 people:
R1 500 per day
R750 for a half day
R190 per hour

NELSON MANDELA MUSEUM AT THE BHUNGA BUILDING, MTHATHA

The historic Bhunga Building has one large conference room and two breakaway rooms. It can host between 30-40 delegates at a time. Prices available on request. It is equipped with projector and screen. Catering is outsourced. The museum has a database of caterers that come when their services are required.

VISITOR INFORMATION

Regular Museum Hours
09h00 – 16h00 everyday. The Nelson Mandela Museum offers visitors the option of opening on public holidays and after hours if bookings are made at least three days in advance.

Parking
Free parking is available at the Nelson Mandela Youth and Heritage Centre in Qunu. Parking at the Nelson Mandela Museum in the Bhunga Building is subject to Mthatha’s municipal hourly tariffs.

Entrance fees
The Nelson Mandela Museum does not charge entrance fees but donations are encouraged. Donation box is available.

Language
All our exhibitions are in English and no translation facility is available at the moment. Tour guides are on duty.
