COMIC EXHIBITION

NELSON MANDELA COMIC EXHIBITION at the NELSON MANDELA MUSEUM, BHUNGA BUILDING

The Nelson Mandela Comic Exhibition was amongst an array of fun and educational activities for children and youth in line with its objectives to be an institution of thought and learning which the museum launched. It used to be housed at the Nelson Mandela Youth and Heritage Center, Qunu now it forms part of the exhibitions found at the recently refurbished Bhunga Building.

The comic exhibition, called the Madiba Legacy series of comics, was a donation to the Museum from the national Department of Education. The exhibition teaches youth about the process of making a comic strip and introduces them to the technology involved in the process. The comic is also used as a vehicle to educate communities about Mr Mandela’s legacy and promotes sustainable interest in the arts.

Says Mr Khwezi ka Mpumlwana, Nelson Mandela Museum CEO: “We are committed to aligning all our programmes to the curriculum of the National Department of Education. We are always looking for different ways of engaging our visitors in different educational activities and this is just one of the other unique ways we are reaching out. These materials will go a long way in passing and imparting Mr Mandela’s the legacy.”
