The Nelson Mandela Museum Programmes Department engages in various educational and cultural activities aimed at sharing the resources linked to Nelson Mandela. Some of the projects and activities are executed with partners of the Museum and support the strategic plan of the Museum, a Council document that guides the Museum management and of Council objectives during its term of office.

The Programmes Department of the Nelson Mandela Museum aims to facilitate learning and sharing from the legacy of Nelson Mandela through education, living heritage, arts and culture, public and outreach programmes. Some of the key result areas of the department are education, collections, protection and preservation of material that reflects the legacy of Nelson Mandela and his contemporaries.

The legacy of Nelson Mandela is preserved and shared through education programmes such as youth camps and the leadership institute; exhibitions – both permanent and temporary; outreach in the form of travelling exhibitions and theatre; research through partnerships with other; and by facilitating seminars and conferences and the conservation of gifts and sites which form the major part of the Museum collection.

Except for Good Friday and workers day on 1st  May.

Saturday: 09h00- 15h00

Sunday :  09h00- 13h00

Guided tours can only be made per arrangement or per booking.

For any other time not mentioned above, please arrange in advance to gain access.
