I am an African. I owe my being to the hills and the valleys, the mountains and the glades, the rivers, the deserts, the trees, the flowers, the seas and the ever changing seasons that define the face of our native land. I am an African!!

I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. I felt fear myself more times than I can remember, but I hid it behind a mask of boldness. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

NMM Aeriel View 2

No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.

Freedom Day in South Africa is Freedom Day. This day in South Africa is celebrated on the 27th of April every year. This day is very important to the lives of South Africans because it was when black people gained independence, and the apartheid regime was removed in 1994.

Africa Day

In my veins courses the blood of the Malay slaves who came from the East. Their proud dignity informs my bearing, their culture is a part of my essence.

To whom it may concern

The Nelson Mandela Museum is a not-for-profit institution established by the government of South Africa as part of a portfolio of legacy projects that seek to transform the heritage landscape from our apartheid past. At the same time, it is a resource for promoting economic development throughout tourism in an impoverished region of the country. This is a region in which I was born and grew up.

I was privileged to open the museum five years ago, and continue to take personal interest in its work. In our view it is working hard to give substance to its vision of becoming “a living museum ... that embraces development and inspires people through education, culture and tourism”.

We would encourage and value any assistance which you are in a position to give to the museum.

I thank you
