The Nelson Mandela Museum, in partnership with the provincial Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, will commemorate the life and times of Nelson Mandela and Reconciliation Day through programming aimed at defusing criminal elements taking place in our communities.
On 3 December, Nelson Mandela Museum and its partners will visit Happy Homes Disabled Children’s Centre in Southernwood, Mthatha, for Christmas lunch and to donate Christmas gifts to the children.
On 4 December, the museum will host a social dialogue under the theme “Remembering the past and marching forward, planting the seed of ubuntu in a manner that prevents acts of criminality from taking place again”.
On 5 December, the museum and Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture will kick-start the programme of the day with a peace walk from Rotary Stadium in Ngangelizwe Location via King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipal offices to the Nelson Mandela Museum, where the official programme of the day will be held.
The annual commemoration of Nelson Mandela is declared as a provincial event of the Eastern Cape government celebrated at the Nelson Mandela Museum.
