This is a pictorial exhibition that was developed by the Film students from the University of Winchester, London who visited South Africa in 2018 by conducting interviews in Mthatha and Qunu. In those interviews, ordinary community members were asked to explain what freedom means to them in the times we live in. The Nelson Mandela Museum has formal partnership with this university and the visit of the said students was part of their fieldwork and also to celebrate the Nelson Mandela Centennial year. Over and above the exhibition, the partnership saw the two institutions hosting one of the international conferences to mark the same milestone. The event took place at the Winchester University in and the Freedom exhibition was displayed in the venue. It was then donated to the Nelson Mandela Museum. The museum then decided to add it to the travelling exhibitions that are currently rotating the country.
