Human Rights Essay Competition Qunu

HMN

The Human Rights Essay Competition is an annual programme that targets learners in Grade 10 and 11 from public and private schools from all the nine provinces of South Africa. This year’s programme was hosted on the 13th of March 2025 at the Nelson Mandela Youth and Heritage Centre in Qunu. Its objectives are to inculcate a culture of human rights to the learners at a young age, that human rights are not absolute, have some limitations and come with responsibility and accountability. The learners are given a topic based on human rights and are required to do a comprehensive research on the topic and submit to the Nelson Mandela Museum. The top ten (10) learners are selected for oral presentations where the best three are given prizes.
