International Youth Exchange Camp in Germany

INTES

The International Youth Exchange Camp is a partnership between Anne Franke Haus Museum in Lower Saxony in German and the Nelson Mandela Museum in South Africa. It is a yearly programme that is hosted between Germany and South Africa. This partnership/exchange programme between these two institutions was as a result of the shared and similar history between the two countries, that social exclusion and racial discrimination under the NAZI (National Socialism) policy in Germany and Apartheid in South Africa under Nationalist Party government. The programme is about making the participants aware of the dangers and atrocities of the respective policies of these countries at a younger age so that the past atrocities are not repeated. The participants are selected from universities in South Africa and Germany.  This exchange programme also promotes social cohesion and tolerance as the participants come form diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
